Vila Nova de Gaia is the latest luxury destination in Porto, with a proliferation of five-star real estate and hotels. Since the beginning of the pandemic, at least five hotels with these characteristics have opened and new openings are coming soon.

Stunning views over Porto are a significant reason for this investment, but they don’t justify the race to the other side of the Douro river alone. Gaia has more free building space and more buildings to renovate than Porto, and the local government is investing in a refurbishment strategy aimed at tourism.

The D.Luís I bridge can be crossed on foot in 5/10 minutes, ending at the Gaia Port and the Port wine cellars, which attract many visitors.
